Philippines: Most of the eighty-four guests who came to the 15th anniversary celebration of the Center for Spiritual Learning were individuals who had been served in the retreats and programs of the center nestled beside the majestic Taal Lake in Tagaytay City in the Philippines. They were comprised of well-wishers from religious congregations such as the Daughters of Charity, St. Paul College, Sacred Heart, St. Scholastica’s Priory and the Saint Augustine Major Seminary (SASMA); government agencies like the Tourism Office and Character City Office of Tagaytay City; and civil society organizations such as ASA Philippines.
As a fitting tribute to the multifarious roles in service that the retreat center has rendered for the country and the city in particular, the guests were feted with entertaining numbers representing a mix of musical genres. BK meditation practitioners who are themselves professional artist singers and composers Timmy Cruz and Tina Diaz led the first and second half of the program. BK Tina’s children Raymond Leslie Diaz and Tanya Diaz (a finalist of The Voice Philippines) joined in with their renditions of classical and country pop ballad songs.
An original piano piece played by BK Tina ushered the guests into a guided meditation led by BK Rajni Daulatram, National Coordinator of the Brahma Kumaris in the Philippines and Japan. Then, as the group gathered in a circle around the Christmas tree where they had put up colored cards inscribed with their wish, BK Timmy serenaded each one with her song “Circles of Love”. Before they left the festivities, the guests were given the traditional blessing cards and toli which were very much appreciated for their accuracy and meaning.
