Brahma Kumaris Conduct De-addiction Program in Jhabeeran

Jhabeeran (Uttar Pradesh): Jhabeeran is a village in the Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh which suddenly became prominent about three months ago when news flashed across the country that the inhabitants are largely inflicted by addiction and, situated at the banks of Yamuna, bordering Haryana, is a major source of drugs.

With the help of district administration BK Dr. Sachin Parab conducted a work shop in Jhabeeran village under the campaign My Saharanpur, Addiction-Free Saharanpur. This was attended by about 600 students, teachers, 30-35 village heads of nearby villages and responsible villagers. Dr. Sachin briefed the audience about substance abuse and how to stop it. Everyone took an oath not to indulge in it. The gathering was addressed by the Superintendent of Police and other Heads.

Deputy Excise Commissioner Sr Rakesh Chaturvedi ji announced the firm commitment of the department to stop the trafficking in all the villages of Saharanpur neighboring Haryana. Villagers said that they want to curb this menace but they need the support of government departments.
