The Rural Welfare and Holistic Cultivation Wing of the Brahma Kumaris Center of Palasia in Indore organised a program in their Om Shanti Bhawan, for the farmers and villagers of the whole state of Madhya Pradesh to prevent them from taking the extreme step of committing suicide.

For this goal they have started a Project, “Empowerment of Farmers through the Empowerment of their Minds.”

Those who ignited the lamps to launch the Campaign were BK Arati, Zonal Co-ordinator of Indore; BK Sumanth, the Head Quarters Co-ordinator of the Rural Welfare and Farming Wing from Mount Abu (HQ); Mr. B.D. Rathi, Retd. Justice of Madhya Pradesh; and Mr. Suresh Gupta, a Social Worker. They were honored with a tilak on their forehead and by being presented with bouquets of flowers.

Then Rajyogini BK Arthi welcomed the guests, villagers and the audience saying, “The present day’s farmer is in dual mind with his problems. Being unable to find a way out, he is committing suicide. He is suffering mentally with tensions, fear, stress and depression. It is necessary to enlighten, empower and build confidence in him. With this noble object in view, this village-to-village campaign has been launched by the members of the Brahma Kumaris Organisation. They are sharing about “Shashwat Yogic Kheti,” which means “Consistent Yogic Cultivation,” and the advantages of this method of farming. Simultaneously, villagers are being informed about various plans being introduced by the Government for the farmers.”

BK Sumanth said, “Through this Project, the message must reach each and every peasant in the whole State of Madhya Pradesh. We must be able to enlighten and empower the minds of the farmers and the village folk as well.” He further said, “The survey statistics reveal that the farmers are becoming inclined to take drastic steps to end their lives when they find themselves helpless. This happens when they become mentally weak.”

With all these facts in view, the Rural Welfare and Farming Wing had a noble thought to start the Campaign to strengthen the Minds of our lives’ Sustainers. We know that once the mind becomes stronger, their Self confidence goes high and then no farmer will commit suicide. Here we convince them and empower them with Spiritual wisdom, and also impart the Know-how and the benefits of Consistent Yogic Farming. The Indian Government was also shown the model of such Yogic Farming, for which they too gave their approval.”

BK Sumanth explained, “As a man becomes addicted to harmful intoxications, so also the farming fields become accustomed to various poisonous chemical fertilizers and insecticides, thereby the nutrients in farm products are lost. To improve the quality of our cultivation lands, we are educating and inspiring the farmers to adopt the system of Shashwat Yogic Kheti, or our ancient traditional farming, to be healthy and happy in life once again. In fact when the Soil or Earth is powerful enough to yield good and healthy crops, then our farmers will also become stronger to sustain the whole of mankind.” He also said that during this campaign, villagers and farmers are informed about various plans introduced by the government from time to time for their welfare.

The efforts of the Brahma Kumaris are found to be encouraging and supportive which assures a bright future for all.
