Asia Retreat Center, Malaysia:  The National Anti-Drugs Agency Malaysia (NADA) collaborated with the Brahma Kumaris of Malaysia to conduct a 30-day residential training program comprising of six modules at Asia Retreat Centre in Malaysia. This training was conducted for certain selected NADA staffs. The training was part of academic research undertaken by a BK who is a Ph.D. candidate in the Islamic Science University of Malaysia (ISUM). This Participatory Action Research (PAR) with psycho-spiritual therapy approach in developing psycho-spiritual change agents at Malaysian National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA) training was closely supervised by ISUM.

The training is comprised of the teachings of the Brahma Kumaris with much emphasis given to the understanding of the self, God, philosophy of karma, attainments of virtues, inner powers and self-transformation with the practice of meditation and change in lifestyle. The training methodology comprised of lectures, interactive sessions and breakout sessions led by experienced trainers. The participants were encouraged to share their knowledge and experiences with the Drug Rehabilitation Centre inmates by incorporating the teaching of the Brahma Kumaris when they return to their workplace.

The finale was the closing ceremony with the presentation of certificates to the participants who had successfully completed the training. This occasion was graced by Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Rushdan Mohd Jailani, Faculty of Leadership and Management, ISUM. He inspired the participants to help to resolve the challenges in education, creating awareness and involvement in the process of intervention for fulfilling the expectations of the stakeholders. He highlighted that this requires a paradigm shift in thinking, values, and innovations within the self and the organization.

The participants were commended for their commitment to complete the training despite other commitments during the 30-day tenure.

Others who were present at the closing ceremony were BK Meera, Director of Brahma Kumaris Malaysia, and BK Letchumanan Ramatha, President of Brahma Kumaris Malaysia, who congratulated the participants.

The participants left refreshed, energized and empowered. They appreciated the positive, good-vibration, warm hospitality; the pure food served, and the spiritual knowledge received. They promised to return for further spiritual sustenance.
