“Spiritual Meaning of Ravan” – Brahma Kumaris in Rajgarh Celebrate Dussehra

The Brahma Kumaris in Rajgarh celebrated the festival of Vijayadashmi at their Centre, Shiv Vardan Bhawan, in a unique way. They made colorful effigies of Ravan with ten heads and Khumbhakarna lying down in deep sleep whom the Brahma Kumaris are trying to awaken.

BK Madhu explained the spiritual meaning of them. “Ravan stands for our weaknesses, the flaws and vices in us. Lust, anger, greed, ego and attachments are the five vices in male and five in female. Both put together are known as ten Headed Ravan personified. Dashera is observed as a festival in memory of winning over our own vices. It is to kill those negative characters within us and become a pure soul.”

Regarding Khumbhakarna, she said, “He is said to be ever in deep sleep. He is not such a huge Demon but it is about the state of today’s mankind in the world. Man has become so ignorant about his own life. He is unaware of Self, God, Value of Time and the Karma philosophy. Due to total ignorance (Darkness) of true knowledge, he is getting trapped more and more in the web of his vicious activities. At such a juncture the Supreme Father, the Supreme Soul, descended on earth and through the Brahma Kumaris is awakening Man. Even then Man is not able to follow this wisdom given by God Himself. Those who woke up and took this knowledge are burning off their five inner Vices in the Fire of Wisdom with a pledge that they will get rid of them forever.”

Then the model Statue of Ravan was put on fire by the Guests and Brahma Kumaris among ecstatic joy and happiness as a mark of killing the Demon King Ravan. People exchanged Best wishes and greetings to each other. The atmosphere reverberated with pleasure and everyone enjoyed the events heartily.

On this occasion Mr. Kapil Gupta, ITI Officer; Mr. Arvind Saxena, Retired Bank Manager; Mr. Shiva Namdev, BS Rathore, Mr. Ram Narayan Dhod, Mr. Satyendra Kanhaiyalal Piplotia, BK Kavita, BK Seema, BK Surekha, BK Sumitra, BK Indira and BK Nandini participated and conducted the program.
