“Enlightened Media for Building a Better World” : Grand Inauguration of International Media Conference 2018

In the presence of 1,500 Media persons from 18 countries, an International Media Conference was inaugurated at the Conference Hall in Shantivan Complex, the Head Quarters of the Brahma Kumaris on Abu Road, on the topic “Enlightened Media for Building a Better World,” organised by the Media Wing of the Rajayoga Education and Research Foundation (RERF) and the Brahma Kumaris from September 21st to 25th, 2018.

During the inaugural session of the conference, Keynote Speaker Prof. Kamal Dixit, National Convener of the Media Initiative for Values, Bhopal, said, “We have to become a positive instrument in creating a new world for which enlightenment is required and Brahma Kumaris are working towards this aim.”

Mr. Sunder Chand Thakur, Editor of Nav Bharat Times from Mumbai, said, “Let us spread good messages to the world. For enlightened media, media personnel have to be enlightened first. Transformation in media can happen when we first transform the self. Never leave the ink of truth in what you write, and there is energy added in writing, which effects the readers.” He was very much impressed how Rajayoga Meditation helps in clearing the blockages in the heart.

BK Nirwair, Secretary General of the Brahma Kumaris, said, “Today the whole world is under the influence of 5 vices — lust, greed, anger, ego, attachment — due to body consciousness, and all have become weak due to ignorance. The Supreme Father incarnated in this world and is now awakening us souls; this is the age of re-awakening and re-enlightenment, where we souls are meeting the Supreme Soul directly.  By Re-Awakening, we are able to let go of the vices and the soul is able to return to its orginal state of peace, happiness and love.  Today is the day to Re-Awaken, to attain Self Realization and God’s Realization. You have come to Gyan Mansarovar (the Lake of knowledge), the place of God. You need Will Power to show positive direction to the world which is gained by having connection with the Supreme.”

Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Editor in Chief, News India Channel from Jaipur, said, “We are able to take care of our responsibilities in day-to-day life as a human, but when we are in a world of rubbish, we think of the system where the field of spirituality is required, and Fraternity needs to be awakened.  It is praiseworthy in the Brahma Kumaris, how leadership is handed to women, and women are seen as Gurus. The concept of Upliftment of Women should reach every home.  Media has to introduce the concept of “Trusteeship” and not be sold to companies and businesses. Enlightenment happens when we collectively enlighten.”

Dadi Ratanmohini, Joint Chief of  the Brahma Kumaris, gave her blessings, sharing that “Whatever I do, others follow me. We have to imbibe divine virtues, and become an example to others, and the whole world will change. Transformation begins from the self. When we change, our family transforms, and the impact will be seen in the society.  The world was once Golden Aged; we just need the faith that this Iron Age will once again become the Golden Age.  By helping each other, let’s imbibe the virtues of the Golden Age and help others to imbibe virtues, and the world can change.  The Golden Age has to come,  so let’s show the qualities of the Golden Age from now.  World transformation depends on us. Let us transform and let the world transform.”

BK Karuna, Chairperson of the Media Wing of the Rajayoga Education and Research Foundation (RERF) and Chief Spokesperson of the Brahma Kumaris, greeted everyone saying “Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram (Truth, Benevolent and Beautiful).  Not just, information, education and entertainment, I trust the participants will return from this conference with enlightenment. India will once again be said to be Vishwa Guru (World Guru). Under the leadership of the 103-year-old Chief of the Brahma Kumaris, Dadi Janki, 50,000 Brahma Kumari sisters are dedicated and are enlightening the whole world with Indian culture. Enlightenment is about just one aspect, “God (Ishwar) is One”; when this enlightenment happens no one in the world can separate us. Until today we say “Vasudaiva Kutumbakam” (We are one world family); we share the same sun, moon, stars and the sky. The third thing is the enlightenment of the power of the soul, the power of thought, and the power of knowledge.  If the Golden Age can become the Iron Age, then we can definitely bring back the Golden Age with each one’s co-operation.”

Mr. Ajay Kumar Roy, DDG, Rural Business and Planning, Department of Posts, GOI, New Delhi,  shared that the impact and reach of media is huge. So efforts made for the Betterment of media will lead to the betterment of the world.

Dr. Rajkumar Nahar, Director of Doordarshan, Jaipur, and International Artist, said, “The empowered pen of the media has the power to unite the whole world, it has the power to spread peace and connect the world with the Supreme Power.  Media plays a key role in re-awakening the world.  Let us make sure that media is always associated with truth so that the world can trust media.”

BK Sheilu, Senior Rajayogi from Mount Abu shared about the importance of Rajayoga Meditation and conducted a guided meditation.

BK Chandrakala, Zonal Co-ordinator of Media Wing, Jaipur well co-ordinated the stage and BK Komal, PRO of the Brahma Kumaris gave the vote of thanks.

Talks, Workshops, Dialogue Sessions, Panel Discussions on the topics  “New Age Media – Challenges and Opportunities”,  “Role of Media in Combating Gender Discrimination and Violence”, “Experiencing Inner Peace and Inner Power”, “How to live a Stress-Free Life”, “Media Initiatives for Global Enlightenment”,  “Spirituality – The Key to Value based Media” etc. will be held during the conference by the team of international speakers and experts who will inspire and empower in bringing positive changes in media, shared BK Shantanu, Head Quarters Co-ordinator of Media Wing, RERF, Mount Abu.
