Agricultural Scientists Meet to Formulate Technical Program on “Yogic and Organic Farming”

A technical meeting was held at PG Seminar Hall, Department of Agronomy at the B.A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University in Anand, to formulate and finalise the technical programme on “Yogic and Organic Farming” to be conducted at state agricultural universities. This meeting was held under the able guidance of Dr. K.B. Katharia, Director of Research, Anand Agricultural University. Agricultural scientists from four state agricultural universities in Gujarat represented this meeting along with BK Sumanth, Head Quarters Co-ordinator of the Agriculture and Rural Development Wing from Mount Abu; BK Rajesh Dave, Head of Indo German Watershed Management from Dahod; BK Sandhya and BK Vaishali from Anand along with other dignitaries.
Dr. M.V. Patel and Dr. K.D. Mevada welcomed and presented the technical program for discussion. After a colloquial discussion the following aspects were finalised:
- Title: Role of Rajayoga Meditation under organic management system
- Objectives are to study the effect of Rajayoga meditation on yield and quality of different crops (amaranth, green gram, chick pea, sorghum, maize, groundnut) cultivated under organic management system and to study the effect of Rajayoga meditation on soil properties under organic management system
- Collaborative departments would be Brahma Kumaris, Organic Farming Cells of State Agricultural Universities involving Departments of Agronomy, Agricultural Chemistry, Soil Science, Biochemistry, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Microbiology etc.
- Methodology to take up these experiments was scripted. Locations for experiments at four agricultural universities were chosen. Different Treatments with Rajayoga Meditation and organic farming models were drafted. Observations to be recorded are also considered.
It was unanimously decided to initiate the programme from the next season as filler trial with the due permission of the Director of Research of the respected State Agricultural Universities.
BK Sumanth from Mount Abu addressed the meeting and the meeting ended with a vote of thanks by BK Rajesh Dave.
An orientation program for the Brahma Kumars and Kumaris involved in this experiment was conducted at Anand (Sadarbaug) Center which was addressed by BK Sumanth, BK Rajesh Dave, BK Harsha, and BK Vaishali.
