Convention of Political Leaders on “Spiritual Empowerment for Raising Happiness Index” Begins

Delegates of all political parties in lndia and Nepal were jointly invited by the Rajayoga Education and Research Foundation’s Political Wing and the Brahma Kumaris to attend an “All lndia Politicians Meeting” in Harmony Hall of Gyan Sarovar, Mount Abu.  Politicians from various states of India and Nepal assembled in large numbers. The inaugural function marked the Silver Jubilee Celebration of the Politicians Service Wing. The Convention of Political Leaders, on the topic “Spiritual Empowerment for Raising Happiness Index,” began after an inaugural lighting of lamps.

Rajayogi BK Nirwair, Secretary General of Brahma Kumaris, extending his best wishes and addressing the politicians said, “The whole responsibility of the society is on your shoulders.” He said, “Today almost everyone in society has ample resources but happiness — real happiness — is lacking in life. Every one of us has the seed of happiness present within at birth. Happiness is innate, built in to our original soul stage. When we move away from Soul consciousness, happiness disappears. This is the only mistake we committed: to identify Self as a Body. If we remain in a Soul conscious state, all our divine values and unlimited happiness returns in our lives.”

Rajayogi BK Brij Mohan, Chairperson of the Politicians Service Wing, clarified the aim of this meeting, saying that to gain happiness, hard labor is not required but only pure love. All work become very easy with love. He said that the way to acquire happiness is very easy but once it is lost it is very difficult to get it back. Happiness is not to be found by searching anywhere outside, but our form itself is happiness and bliss being personified. Wealth too comes from happiness. All values in life come under the category of wealth that are due to happiness. There are two types of happiness: short-term and long-term. Material life gives short-term happiness and long-term happiness comes from Spiritual life. Where does this long-lasting happiness exist, and where is that place? That place is our own self called Soul. Happiness and bliss are in the Soul. Atma, or Soul, means bliss personified. He said, “You have to feel that experience here. This blissful experience is the only way to raise the happiness index high”.

Mr. Arjun Gujarati, Former Speaker and Cabinet Minister of Maharashtra State, said that a contented man is ever-happy. He shared, “l travelled all over the world but nowhere found a shop selling happiness. That shop is here in the Brahma Kumaris Organisation. Making others happy enhances our happiness. It is a great thing. Politicians can do this because they are for people and elected by the people”. He further stated, “It is being said that limited facilities give happiness. Such happiness is lost with the increase of desires, because you cannot accumulate all; then the mind gets filled with sorrow. So experience Soul Consciousness for happiness and peace.” He said that this Spirituality will only make you happy. “Nothing is Mine, everything is Yours” is the only way to happiness.

Mr. Hitendra Nath Goswami, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Assam, said in the welcoming session that politicians and politics are not viewed with the right outlook. No parents want their children to enter into politics. He said, “Whenever l found youth in assembly, l used to ask the seniors to behave well so that the youth may learn from them good ethics”. He said that youth must come into politics for which he had been motivating them. He said, “When good individuals come into politics, only then will its face change in society. Value- based politics can do good for people; for this we must adopt Spirituality in life. It is our country’s life. Without Spiritual inner power politicians cannot do any good for the nation.”

Mr. Bal Bahadur Maharshi, former Minister, Government of Nepal, extended his best wishes and expressed his thanks to the organisers. He said, “Today, materialism has become deep-rooted and that is the cause for all our sufferings. The Brahma Kumaris are doing a great job to re-establish ethics and spirituality in society. It is praise-worthy”. He said that this is the only bond of brotherhood between lndia and Nepal that will further remain so forever.

Abha Mahato, former Minister and MLA of Jharkhand, wished the program with all success. She questioned, “How can happiness be a nectar of life?” She said, “lt is a pity that for happiness seminars have become necessary in the world”. She said that our politicians can be happy in their life when they work for the people and the society. Today we have become selfish so we have lost happiness. Living for others brings happiness. She said, “This land is a heaven on earth and so I feel to stay here forever”. She asked the delegates to take divine energy from this land, and to work to make the society and the world a heaven. She said, “God is with you”.

Mr. Gangaram Saudagar, former MLA from Telangana, recollected his first arrival in Madhuban, 17 years ago for a similar seminar, when BK Prakashmani Dadi requested all the members to set aside all their bad habits for at least one year. He took up the challenge, and since then he has been living a pure and truthful life and keeping himself busy in service to mankind. BK Usha, Co-ordinator of the Political Wing in the Headquarters of Mount Abu, conducted Rajyoga meditation and helped everyone experience inner peace.

At the beginning of the convention, a message with best wishes from Mr. Amit Shah, National President of BJP, was read. Sister Indrani and a group from Mysore presented the “Vande Mataram” song very enchantingly. The Madhur Vani group then rendered a welcome song under the direction of BK Satish.

BK Vivek, Poet and Anchor (MC), read his poem to entertain the delegates.  BK Sapna hosted the whole session.
