Manila (Phillipines): The interfaith meeting of the Uniharmony Partners Manila (UPM) was scheduled on December 10, the actual date when the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly 70 years ago. It was also an opportunity for different organizations and representatives such as the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Phils (CBCP), the Episcopal Commission for Interreligious Dialogue, Fr. Carlos Reyes, Ms. Asela Arago of FOCOLARE, the Islamic Republic of Iran Embassy, Elder Villanueva of The Church of Latter Day Saints, and the Brahma Kumaris to share messages for this opportune event.

The Brahma Kumaris were able to share copies of the booklet Human Rights Spiritual Rights wherein for each human right, there is a corresponding spiritual right. Part of the BK message emphasized that “Every being is entitled to experience his or her spiritual rights of love, happiness, peace, and belonging, regardless of caste, color, creed, gender, and regardless of political or social circumstances in which he or she is living.”

Mr. Martin Slater of The Church of Latter Day Saints re-introduced the two manuals prepared by the Geneva Office for Human Rights Education. Almost everyone received a copy of the two manuals for further study, application and comments.

The 2019 World Interfaith Harmony Week Activities scheduled for the first week of February 2019 were presented, which reflected the initiative and contribution of the concerned groups. The Theme will be “Celebrating Truth, Sincerity and Forgiveness.”
