As part of Independence Day Celebrations, members of the Brahma Kumaris Center in Bhilai visited the slum colony of laborers adjacent to the Railway Station, where the residents were affected by Dengue disease. It is to be noted that in the past, a few deaths have been recorded due to Dengue fevers.

After studying the situation prevailing there the Brahma Kumaris volunteers explained the causes of the disease and the remedial measures to prevent it. They stressed mainly on keeping their surroundings clean. The main reason was noted to be the bad roads, stagnant waters on the street which were polluting water and the air with a foul smell. They were sweetly advised to shift their outlets away from dwelling places. In that process cooler tanks were cleaned by the team with the help of locals and pamphlets were also distributed for their awareness.

The Government is also worried about this problem and to find measures to prevent it. The Sisters and Brothers of the Brahma Kumaris Center gave some important tips on cleanliness and hygiene which everyone listened to with rapt attention. They all pledged to implement the preventive steps for their own good health.
