“Development is no doubt necessary but it is not greater than health,” stated BK Akhilesh during the seminar arranged by the Brahma Kumaris at their Divyadham centre in Dhamtari.  Held on World Environment Day, the seminar discussed the condition of Nature, the World Environment, and Disaster Management with the topic “Clean the Mind and Green the Earth.”

The Special Guest was Mr. Shakti Verma, Worms Scientist from the Agricultural Science Centre in Dhamtari. Mr. Nitin Pandey, Assistant Engineer from the Mahanadi Water Storage Project Committee in Rudri was the Main Speaker.  BK Akhilesh and the BK Centre in Charge of Magarlod were present on the podium.

BK Akhilesh said, “We cannot imagine any healthy Human Life without Nature. Therefore, all the scriptures also regarded Nature as Divine. In our Atharva Veda Tree, Nature is considered as feminine, and her agony has been described in it. Nature and Man are complementary to each other. Man’s body remains healthy when his life is balanced. Today we are aware of the need to save Nature, for which we are planting new saplings, too, but later we don’t take care of their survival. In the race of modernisation and social development, Nature is excessively being exploited. Development is no doubt necessary but it is not greater than human health.

On the same course, Mr. Shakti Verma said that, day by day, Nature is losing its green existence. Due to poisonous insects and the use of chemical fertilizers, the yielding capacity of farm lands is decreasing. Generally the effects of pesticides used in fields lasts longer and remains in the crops we reap. Upon eating such farm products, either raw or cooked, many new diseases are coming up. Excessive traces of pesticides existing in the farm products have gone beyond recommended limits that are injurious to the human body. Countries like America keep a strict vigil on these limitations, but in India there are no such strict provisions. He said, “Let us commit firmly on this World Environment Day that we will stop using polythene. We must grow kitchen gardens in our homes.” He said that we must not cook vegetables without peeling or washing them with hot water.

Mr. Nitin Pandey then expressed his feelings and compassion for Nature and the atmosphere through his poems and songs.

In her divine discourse, Rajyogini BK Sarita mentioned that today, man blames Nature for having lost its balance, and sometimes they say that man’s behaviour and morality have become polluted. In fact both Man and Nature have lost their original qualities. Today man himself has gone out of self control. He is unable to manage his own thoughts. One who has forgotten his self identity, how can he control his senses? It is said that this very Nature was once highly pure, and is now inflicting pains and sorrow. Man himself is responsible for his sufferings. When man became body conscious, he turned out to be greedy, selfish, and competitive with others. Due to industrial growth he spoiled and polluted Nature. Further, BK Sarita said, the thoughts in the minds of human beings show their direct effect on Nature.  This has been demonstrated and proved authentically by many scientists.

BK Prajakta, through her meditation commentary, guided everyone present at the occasion to send their pure mental vibrations to Nature.

The program was commenced by BK Navneeta offering her prayer song to Nature. The whole function was well conducted by BK Jagruti.
