On the occasion of World Heart Day, an awareness event was organized by the Brahma Kumaris, Madhoganj branch of Gwalior at Prabhu Uphaar Bhawan.

In the beginning of the event, BK Prahlad introduced the organization and shared that various health-related events are regularly organized by the Medical Wing of the Brahma Kumaris.

BK Dr. Gurcharan Singh, while sharing about heart disease, said that we need to become aware of our health because a little awareness can save us from this serious illness. Today, heart disease is one of the major fatal diseases.  The disease which was only among the elderly earlier is now affecting even the youth. Main causes of this disease are Obesity, Diabetes, Smoking, High Blood Pressure, etc.

Most of these are due to our wrong lifestyle. Under the theme of the year ‘My Heart, Your Heart, Make Your Heart Promise‘, we must promise ourselves that we need to keep ourselves healthy and help our friends and relatives be healthy. We would to not smoke, and to exercise daily. He said that for this, we need to make ourselves healthy and disease-free, especially by practicing Rajayoga being taught by the Supreme Father. Hence we need to inculcate an attitude of being thankful. It is said that if you wake up in the morning, thank God, because there are many who are not able to wake up in the morning. We need to surrender all burdens to God and do our tasks with a light heart.

For this, we need to take care of a few things :

  1. Early to bed and early to rise
  2. Practice Meditation in the morning
  3. Every day we should go for a walk/exercise/swim or dance
  4. Get your health check done regularly
  5. Avoid unhealthy food items
  6. Take your medicines regularly
  7. In any condition, stay in touch with your doctor
  8. Do some sort of social service which will earn us blessings, we will exercise and you will be happy

After this, the audience were given a practice of exercise with songs. To conclude, BK Adarsh, Centre Head, thanked everyone and distributed Prasad. BK Jyoti, BK Pawan, BK Brijendra and other city residents participated in the event and were benefitted.
