“Moved by God’s Love” – Interfaith Event by Brahma Kumaris, Suriname, South America

The Brahma Kumaris in Suriname, South America, organized a public program with the theme “Moved by God’s Love.” Together with Golden-Aged dance performances, songs and a poem, there was a conversation with four people from different spiritual and religious backgrounds: Raqib Alibaks (Suriname Muslim Association), Raghnie Narain (Brahma Kumaris), Emmy Hart (Christian, of Volle Evangelie), and Theo Habraken (Bahai).
In these conversations they shared their individual experiences about God and God’s love. The first question asked was about “What is our drive, what moves us”. Emmy shared that, after recognizing God, everything she wanted to do was everything at the Church. By doing this she could feel that she is being guided by God.
Raqib shared about his grieving when he lost his father some years ago. It is than that he realized that only praying can help and by praying five times a day, his relationship with God become stronger. During the conversation there was an interesting aspect about experiencing different relationships with God. Emmy shared “I call Him Daddy.”
Raghnie mentioned that she experiences God not only as her Father but also as her Protector, Friend, and Beloved, while Theo said that he only experiences God as the Creator. He was surprised and curious to know about how we can relate to God as our Father or any other relationship. The conversation continued on the topic of Silence. It was a wonderful sight to see four different persons from different backgrounds sharing one stage and sharing their own experience about God’s Love.
BK Loes Bemmel shared the importance of having a connection with the Supreme, who is so universal. It doesn’t matter where you live or from which religion you are, the desire to have a connection with the Source is in each one of us. Listening to God requires time, attention, silence and concentration, she mentioned. We are sitting on the different branches of this world tree but the Seed is One, because we are connected with One.
