Bhimavaram (Andhra Pradesh): The Brahma Kumaris of Om Shanti Yog Bhawan Centre in Bhimavaram arranged a program at the Jhansi Lakshmibai School campus and invited the public to participate in the festival of lights on the occasion of Kartik Poornima. They arranged One Lakh lamps to be ignited by the public in which ladies worship God Shiva for the welfare of their husband.
Dignitaries who inaugurated the festival by lighting holy lamps were Mr. Gokaraju Gangaraju, MP of Narsapuram, Mrs. Gokaraju Bangaramma, Dr. Vijay Babu and Mr. Gandhi Raju along with BK Revathi and BK Brothers and Sisters.
On this occasion BK Revathi, local Centre in-Charge of Brahma Kumaris in Bhimavaram, welcomed all the participants and the guests and highlighted the spiritual meaning of this Festival of Lights. She said, “As per Indian Myth this month of Karthik is favourite for Lord Shiva. In that Mondays are given more importance. More so the Full Moon is observed specially with offering lighting Wick Lamps to God and praying for the welfare and long life of their husbands and family by ladies.”
The spiritual significance of this Festival is, she said, “Light means Brightness, Fortune, Happiness and Good Omens. Param Jyoti, the Supreme Light, when descends on Earth, enlightens us that we are not the Body but His Children, the Divine Souls, Sparks of Light. He refines us with all His sixteen Divine Attributes. Lighting the lamps on this day is the reminder of the same. That is why the Full Moon is called Shodas Kala Sampoorna (16 celestial degrees full).”
So with the intention of imparting this sacred knowledge to the devoted public, she said, this program of One Lakh wick lamps, “Laksha Deep Utsav,” has been arranged. She extended her sincere gratitude to all the participants for making it a great success and inspired them to visit the Centre to learn Easy Raja Yoga meditation.
