Seminar “My Bharat, Drug Free Bharat” at Hathras
Students of Universal College resolve to lead a Drug-free life during the seminar organized under the campaign of “Mera Bharat, Vyasan-Mukt Bharat” at Hathras, Anandpuri Colony, where Principal Mukesh Kumar expressed his gratitude as innocent small hands undertake to free society of Drugs.
It is not just surprising but shocking as well that more than 40% of our rural children are exploited by their guardians to buy tobacco, cigarettes, bidis etc. from the market. When these children were enlightened on the dangers of using tobacco and other intoxicants they came forward and pledged that they would never be an instrument to their elders for procuring such intoxicants. This relates to the Iglas Road Universal College where the Brahmakumaris in their campaign for “My India, Drug-free India” organized a seminar under the guidance of Rajyoga Teacher Brahmakumari Sister Shanta Ji.
Speaking on this occasion sister BK Shanta emphasized that tobacco is one of the major causes of cancer in India. No doubt it is illegal to sell tobacco and tobacco products within the 100 meter periphery of an educational institution, yet these are made easily available. It is still more unfortunate that the parents and elders not only use these intoxicants in the presence of their wards but they also force them to purchase these things from the shops. It is but natural that the children follow their elders in such matters. They start smoking secretly and then starts the endless but tragic journey till their last moments.
Earlier BK Dinesh Bhai, with the help of Medical Wing Exhibition of pictures, posters and videos informed the youth about the harms and dangers of using the intoxicants. The students expressed their resolve of not using these products and also creating awareness against the use of these harmful things. On this occasion BK Uma inspired the youth to make a strong resolve to change the quality of their life-style. The BK center In Charge of Iglas BK sister Hemlata expressed her good wishes for this noble determination. The Principal of the college Sh. Mukesh Kumar Sharma expressed his gratitude to the Brahmakumaris for creating this awareness amongst the youth and their guardians to beware of these deadly products used so frequently. BK Gajendra Bhai with quite a few slogan placards inspired the children. On this occasion the teachers like Sh. Vimal Sharma, Neetu Singh, Shailendra Sharma, Jyoti Upadhiaya, Piush Sharma, Harpreet Kaur, Subhanshu Aggarwal, Himmat Singh Sainger etc. were also present.
