Asian Foundation Honours Award to Brahma Kumaris at Nairobi, Kenya

BK Sister Vedanti, Regional Co-ordinator of Brahma Kumaris centres in Africa was honored with Asian Foundation Honours Award, during the 30th Anniversary celebrations luncheon held at the Trademark Hotel, Village Market, Nairobi. They commended the work of the Brahma Kumaris in Kenya.

The awards were presented by the Chief Guest Amb (Dr) Amina Mohamed, Cabinet Secretary for Education in the Ministry of Education who represented the President of Kenya. The Chairman Mr Hasu Devani was also present at the event.

The Asian Foundation Honours Award was presented to six people and Sr Vedanti was one of them. The others were HE Honorable Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, the President of Kenya; Dr Chandu Sheth a philanthropist, Mr Zahir Malik an advocate, Mrs Hayati Anjarwalla of Bomu Hospital, Mombasa and The Asia Weekly a publication connecting communities in East Africa.

The Asian Foundation exists to relieve poverty or distress to persons who are residents of Kenya. They promote the welfare of Kenyans by providing financial assistance for the advancement of social and economic development in Kenya. This is done in partnership with the government of Kenya, through education and training for empowerment of communities. The Foundation also promotes measures supportive of a greater interaction and understanding among persons of diverse communities residing in Kenya.
