A seminar on “Spirituality and Assertiveness in Communication” was directed by Guillermo Simó in Spain, Europe.

He said, In communication it is important to recognize the weaknesses of ego. Ego by nature is hypersensitive. In assertive communication, we communicate thoughts and ideas or defend our interests or rights without the intention to harm anyone. We defend our rights without harming others. We have the awareness that we did it in the best way, respectfully, without attacking others. By comparison, the aggressive are looking for liabilities, and need to have control.

Assertive communication is done from the space of reflection. Principles of effective communication are:
A. Set the facts in the most objective way
B. Express Feelings (language of me)
C. Offer a personal interpretation of the facts (not judgment)
D. Make a request
