World Environment Day Celebrations at Shanti Sarovar, Raipur

Celebrating the World Environment Day at Raipur, the Chief Forest Conservator Mr. R.K. Singh emphasized that along with the material and technical progress man needs to maintain a healthy balance with nature. He must develop a sensitivity to natural growth if he wishes to survive the coming technological development in the coming years. Mr. Singh aired his views while participating in the World Environment Day celebrations at the Brahma Kumaris Centre ‘Shanti Sarovar’. Talking on the causes, he said that the use of polythene has become a big hurdle and the major cause of environmental pollution.
He lamented that man is leading no more than an artificial living, rather has a ‘façade of living’ as he keeps destroying the natural surroundings for his material gains. The need of the time is to save water and to plant as many trees.
The Zonal In-Charge of the Brahma Kumaris Rajyogini BK Kamla Didi said that the UNO has dedicated this day for the Nature. It is a matter of honour that this World Body has accorded the Brahma Kumaris the status of ‘Observer’ in this regard. It is only because of man’s selfishness and ignorance that we have reached such a state of ‘Nature Crisis’ which we must come out of at all costs. Let us not expect the state and national governments to help man rise above the situation. Charity begins at home and this time it must begin with every single human being.
The Chief Forest Coservator and Chairperson of the State Small Forest Product Association Mr. Mudit Kumar Singh also lamented the loss of more than hundred good water ponds that Raipur could once boast of. We need to change ourselves and depend on any technology to come to our rescue from the catastrophe that seems to push man against the wall.
BK Sister Aditi stressed that the main cause of all pollution is pollution of our mind. Before we purify our mind all efforts and talk of environmental pollution would be no better than a futile gesture. The honoured guests also planted trees to mark the occasion as well as to express our human resolve to save and plant more trees.
